They are good at calling you back over and over and emailing you how hard they tried to help me but it just goes back to the automated phone system waiting pattern. I called Apple support and had to re-shave while waiting for a response. Spent most of 3 days trying to remedy this and no go at this point. I am close to throwing the HP from a high building and laughing hysterically when it hits the ground. I tried downloading from HP their software to my iMac ( again) and attempted at least 4 times to install but got the "a serious malfunction occurred" during the installation and command to "start over" which i did several times to the same malfunction message. ![]() I tried deleting via keychain and redoing the keychain passwords using a different method, but I still get the "Hold for Authentication" ![]() It is all up to date software.The HP printer just began blocking all printing with the message "Hold for Authentication" last week. I checked for software updates from both Apple and the HP Officejet 5746 eprint printer. I have OX 10 El Capitan version 10.11.6 - the latest as of today on a late 2009 27 inch monitor iMac. so I was never able to do the last instruction to find the "Printer folder" I reset the printer several times followed your instructions as best I could but I don't have the "GO" feature in my finder. The Apple page you linked to was helpful but didn't solve the problem. Methinks Ayn is saying " I told you so back in 1945-55!" to today's Crony Capitalism that has been institutionalized in the last decade. I never thought that a character from Ayn Rand would help me out. ![]()
